When choosing a hotel to stay at for travel trips, my top priorities usually focus on a combination of amenities, location, and costs, yet I am aware of the significance of using loyalty programs to optimize value and get more benefits. These programs have numerous alluring perks like complimentary breakfast, lounge access, and free upgrades. So if you are planning a trip, then analyzing these hotel rewards programs can lead to time savings and help you find excellent deals.

Let’s examine these international hotel loyalty programs:

Marriott Bonvoy:

With about 8,700 hotels spread across 139 countries and regions and a diverse portfolio of over 30 unique brands, Marriott is a major player in the worldwide hospitality market. It is possible that you will come across a Marriott hotel in your travels. The fifth night is free, which is one of the Marriott Bonvoy program’s most notable features. You will receive the lowest-priced night for free, redeemable with no points, when you book five consecutive reward nights.

This function is exceptionally helpful for earning points, especially when visiting opulent locations like the Maldives. Marriott Bonvoy members also benefit from the freedom to transfer points to any of its forty airline partners. Among them are highly valued airline currencies such as Asiana club and Alaska Airline’s Mileage Plan.

Marriott provides five levels of elite membership, with each tier granting access to executive lounges, nightly upgrade awards (formerly known as suite night awards), and other benefits. There are five cards that new applicants can apply for to accrue Marriott Bonvoy points:

1. Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card: Perfect for loyal Marriott customers looking for first-rate benefits.

2. Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card: Designed specifically for frequent business travelers, this card offers a number of valuable advantages.

3. Marriott Bonvoy BevyTM American Express® Card: Offers a good bonus but not many substantial perks.

4. Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card: Ideal for devoted Marriott customers looking for benefits at a manageable yearly cost.

5. Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card: Ideal for a no-annual-fee choice for loyal Marriott customers.

World of Hyatt:

In more than 70 countries, more than 1,200 hotels take part in the World of Hyatt reward program. Hyatt hotels are typically limited to well-known locations and cities. Hyatt points probably won’t be of much use to you if you’re searching for a place to stay in a rural region. When compared to rival hotels such as Marriott and Hilton, Hyatt’s award prices are comparatively cheap. A luxurious Hilton hotel might cost 120,000 points per night, while an elite Hyatt hotel might cost 30,000 points.

Most notably, Hyatt continues to release award charts, which helps with travel planning. It’s true that earning Hyatt points is more difficult than earning Hilton points because Hyatt only provides two co-branded credit cards. Nonetheless, Hilton is a Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partner.

There are two top methods to accrue points from Hyatt credit cards: the personal and business versions.

1: Personal credit card

The World of Hyatt Credit Card offers 30,000 bonus points once you spend $3,000 on purchases during the first three months of opening an account. The annual fee for the card is $95. Additionally, you can receive an additional 30,000 extra points by accruing two bonus points for every $1 spent on transactions that typically earn one point during the first six months after opening an account (up to $15,000 spent).

2: Business Credit Card

On the other hand, the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card offers 60,000 bonus points once you spend $5,000 on purchases during the first three months of opening an account, and it has an annual fee of $199.

IHG One Rewards:

The most popular hotel programs become even more competitive with the recent update to the IHG One Rewards program. IHG hotels often provide inadequate value for the points because of flexible pricing. However, IHG hotels are user-friendly and in almost the same number of areas as Hilton hotels.

Additionally, you can regularly get IHG One Rewards points at significant savings. IHG provides three co-branded credit cards, with the benefit of instantly qualifying for a free fourth consecutive reward night. This is different from other reward programs and offers more value than the fifth-night free offered by Marriott and Hilton.

IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card (no annual fee):

  • earns 5 points for every dollar spent at IHG hotels and resorts;
  • earns 3 points for every dollar spent at restaurants (including takeout and delivery eligible);
  • earns 2 points for every dollar spent at gas stations; and earns 2 points for purchases of other items.

The IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card: which has an annual cost of $99, offers the following benefits:

  • up to 10 points for every dollar spent at IHG hotels and resorts;
  • 5 points for every dollar spent at restaurants (including takeout and qualifying delivery);
  • 5 points for gas stations; 3 points for other expenditures.

IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card:

With the $99 annual fee IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card, you can earn: up to 10 points for every dollar spent at IHG hotels and resorts;

  • 5 points for every dollar spent at restaurants (including takeout and delivery services);
  • 5 points for every dollar spent at gas stations;
  • 5 points for office supply stores;
  • 3 points for every dollar spent on other purchases.

Choice Privileges:

Choice Hotels are renowned for being exceptionally affordable, making them an excellent option for travelers visiting Scandinavia. The hotels in the area might be expensive. In addition, there are plenty of places to select from, and the program frequently offers Sweet Spot Rewards members a discount on redemption rates.  Furthermore, the company occasionally runs noteworthy promotions that let you complete reasonably easy activities to accrue enough points for a free night.

Choice now provides two co-branded credit cards with point accumulation options. Amex points and Capital One miles can also be transferred to Choice at a 1:1 ratio. Choice receives Citi points at a more favorable 1:2 ratio. If you use Citi points to redeem Choice rewards, the cost is now half.

Conclusion:

A hotel can offer much more than just a place to sleep. Your trip can be much better by loyalty programs, and it can even become almost free.
