Questions and answers
Is the trip expense tracker free?
Yes. Creating trips, adding expenses, splitting costs, the dashboard and all reports are free, and every trip includes 3 free AI receipt scans (up to 60 a month per traveller). Need more? Add 100 scans for CA$1.99 or 300 for CA$3.99 (they never expire and work on any trip), or a Trip pass for one trip: 30 days and up to 500 scans for CA$4.99. One payment each time: no subscription, no monthly fee. Typing expenses by hand stays free.
Do I need to download an app or create a password?
No. It works in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer. Enter your email and we send you a 6-digit code (and a link). Each device then stays signed in for about 6 months.
Which currencies and languages does it read?
Receipts in any language and currency: yen, euros, pesos, rupees, dirhams and more. Each expense keeps the currency you paid in and is added to your trip total in your home currency, at the day's rate or at the exact amount your card was charged if you type it in.
Can I upload PDF receipts?
Yes. Upload PDF receipts, invoices and booking confirmations as well as photos, and the details are read the same way.
How does splitting with friends or family work?
Invite your travel companions with a link or by email, or add people by name (for example children). For each expense choose who paid and who shares it. The Settle up tab shows who owes whom and the fewest payments to even things out.
Can I use it for business travel?
Yes. Mark expenses as Business and download a business expense report with your name, company, purpose, itemised expenses, signature lines and the receipt images, ready to hand in for reimbursement. You can also download everything as an Excel (CSV) file.
Can I save trips I plan with Nanajee and track them later?
Yes. On any itinerary from the Nanajee trip planner, tap "Save to My trips" to keep it with your other plans. When you're ready to go, tap "Track expenses" on it: the expense trip is set up with the itinerary's name, destination and budget, and the Dashboard shows planned vs actual spending by category.
Who can see my receipts and expenses?
Only the people on that trip. Receipt photos are kept in a private, locked folder, not on public web pages. The organiser can delete a trip, with all its expenses and receipts, at any time.
